Highball Festival FAQs
How will it work on the day?
Arrive at the front doors of the Embassy at the session time on your ticket
Hit The Ground Running tickets have a PINK logo. GA tickets have a BLUE one. Follow the signage and make sure you're in the right queue to be issued with your allocated wristband. Get your Highball ticket here
There isn't a coat or bag check, so travel light! The weather is looking warm for the weekend
Once you have your AWOP wristband, pick up your complimentary welcome drink (included in your ticket price) served in your souvenir Highball glass
You're in! Explore the different spaces in the Embassy, sample spirits in The Tasting Room, grab another cocktail in the Speakeasy or at a Bar Takeover, check out the House of Angostura Bar and the Johnnie Walker experience and learn something new from an expert in the Highball Speaker Series
When you need to top up your wristband, head to one of the clearly signposted AWOP banks (see below for more AWOP info)
All bars will close 30 minutes before each session ends
Water is free and flowing, and easily accessible and located in spots around the venue
Highball staff are wearing Highball t-shirts - if you need anything, please approach them with your query
How do I pay for food and drinks at Highball?
AWOP is the only accepted form of payment. AWOP is a is a Cashless Payment System for festivals all around the globe. It speeds up service meaning queues are shorter and faster!
If you purchase a GA ticket, pick up your AWOP wristband at the door. There is a one-off $2 activation fee when you load your AWOP wristband at the banks located at the venue.
Any funds remaining on your wristband can be refunded three weeks from the end of the festival. Keep your wristband and head to www.awop.co.nz to access your refund
What do I get for my Highball ticket?
All Highball tickets include:
a Highball festival glass
a welcome drink is included in the price of your ticket, provided by Scapegrace and Kegstar
access to the Highball Speaker Series with 14 local and international speakers
three food vendors
How much will cocktails cost?
Distilleries and producers will have their products available for you to sample, and cocktails will cost between $10 - $18.
Where will Highball be held?
The historic Embassy Theatre, an iconic Wellington landmark situated at the head of the buzzing downtown entertainment precinct of Courtenay Place. It is easily accessible by public transport as numerous bus routes pass through the Courtney Place hub, including Hutt Valley, Newlands and Wellington City buses.
Will there be places to pop my coat, bags, kitchen sink, etc.?
Unfortunately there isn’t. We’re using every inch of the Embassy to make Highball amazing. So we suggest you travel light! The weather is looking good for the weekend, so leave that coat (and kitchen sink) at home!
What is the venue’s wheelchair access like?
The Embassy has a Silver Be.Acessible rating of 78%. A recent refurbishment has incorporated accessibility features, such as lift access to the Level 1, and accessible toilets on the ground floor. Each of the three cinemas has space available for wheelchairs.
It’s going to be a right knees-up, isn’t it?
Yes, it is going to be a grand old time! But we do expect festival goers to enjoy the festival responsibly, otherwise, we do reserve the right to eject those who are displaying anti-social behaviour.
